The biodiversity flag is the next flag for us to conquer on our green schools journey. This encourages us to really look at everything in our school and local environment from bugs to birds and each animal's habitat.
We have identified 3 habitats in our school and surrounding area. We have completed a project to research the animals that live in these habitats.
Our most recent biodiversity project was created as part of the Green Schools second step to achieving a new flag - environmental review. The junior room looked closely at our school environment to see what habitats were actually there and then went on to investigate what animals live in those particular habitats. The senior room completed an environmental audit which saw them look at the term ecosystems and discuss what challenges biodiversity in our school faced. Our next step is to get together to discuss an action plan that would outline what we can do to increase plant and animal life in our school environment. Stay tuned!
